Live performances by the band were included in the Beatles at Shea Stadium concert film, on the live album documenting their concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, and on the 1996 Anthology 2 box set. Among music critics, Ian MacDonald describes the song as "psychologically deeper than anything the Beatles had recorded before" and "extraordinary for its time"."Ticket to Ride" appears in a sequence in the Beatles' second feature film, Help!, directed by Richard Lester. The song was included on their 1965 album Help! Recorded at EMI Studios in London in February that year, the track marked a progression in the Beatles' work through the incorporation of drone and harder-sounding instrumentation relative to their previous releases. Issued as a single in April 1965, it became the Beatles' seventh consecutive number 1 hit in the United Kingdom and their third consecutive number 1 hit (and sixth in total) in the United States, and similarly topped national charts in Canada, Australia and Ireland. I didn’t have either “Offering” or the “Ticket” albums until many years later."Ticket to Ride" is a song by the English rock group the Beatles, written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney. Outside of “Ticket”, if I had to choose just one song, it oddly would be Richard’s “Your Wonderful Parade”, more than likely because it was the second song that I ever heard by them, as it was the flip-side of “Ticket”. They both matured so much between these releases and they never looked back. ![]() Listening to these two albums and then “Close To You”, sounds like going from elementary school to graduation to me. On the poll, I picked "I like every song" because I do. I know that fans absolutely demand Karen and nothing else. I tend to miss that group sound on later albums, but that's just me. Richard soon realized that it was Karen that everyone wanted to hear, so he backed off his own lead vocals over the years and let her shine on all of the tracks. At that point in time, Carpenters sounded like a group effort, and splitting the duties of lead seemed like the right way to go. ![]() I was amazed and quite take with the fact that 10 of the tunes had been written by Richard Carpenter, and was delighted to hear him split the singing duties with his sister. So early on, I was an original owner of the OFFERING album. 'Ticket to Ride' is a song by the English rock group the Beatles, written by John Lennon and credited to LennonMcCartney. I told her yes, and was thrilled on Christmas day to get what to me was a new album by this duo that had thrilled me with their second album. But my older sister said she'd seen it in one the record stores near her house, and did I want it as a Christmas present. Somehow, I learned of Carpenters' earlier album, but couldn't find it in record stores. In 1970, I heard "Close To You" and later bought the album, but still I couldn't find that "Ticket To Ride" song. "Ticket To Ride" took me by surprise and by the time it registered with me and I wanted to record it, but it was gone from the rotation of the station I listened to. I'd heard "Ticket To Ride" on the radio, and in those days, I often taped on my reel-to-reel recorder the songs that I liked. ![]()
